My Scary Encounter With a Crocodile

By Ryan McKevitt

Today I saw a crocodile,

It sat and stared at me.

I didn’t run, I stood dead still,

He was thinking I was his tea.

I saw his big, scary mouth,

I think he grinned at me.

The sweat is pouring down my forehead.

I am so scared, I need to pee.

I take a deep breath, I have been brave before.

In my dreams, I have wrestled monsters to the floor.

I need to stand tall and not show my fear,

Even though the crocodile is near.

I move closer, I am curious to see,

This massive beast, who is looking at me.

He flips his tail, he shows his teeth,

I want to run, but can’t move my feet.

As the crocodile prepared to eat me,

He snapped, he snarled, he blew.

I just stood brave, and tapped the glass,

Luckily for me, this crocodile was in the zoo.
